Dysport is a neuromodulator, the same as Botox and Xeomin. Neuromodulators use a form of onabotulinum toxin type A, which works to block nerve signals telling muscles to contract, effectively relaxing them and allowing the skin to smooth out. Dysport is FDA approved, and has been proven safe and effective in clinical trials. It is formulated slightly differently than Botox and Xeomin, with unique properties that allow it to spread over a slightly larger area than the other two. Dysport can be a great way to quickly and non-invasively smooth out expression lines, such as frown lines, between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. A typical Dysport injection session lasts less than 20 minutes, and there is no downtime required following treatment. Side effects are minimal, and may include temporary pain at the injection site, headache, or irritation. These generally disappear on their own within a few days to a week.
