How does Bellafill work?
Bellafill uses an innovative blend of 2 distinct components to create results that are both immediate and long lasting. Suspended within its smooth collagen gel base are tiny polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. Once it’s injected, the collagen goes to work immediately, adding natural-looking volume to soften smile lines or acne scars. Over time, your body naturally metabolizes the collagen — but that doesn’t mean your results disappear. The PMMA microspheres work as a scaffolding system, supporting the development of your own collagen and laying the foundation for long-term smoothness. With Bellafill®, you don’t have to decide between looking great now and looking great later.
Bellafill is comprised of 80% collagen and 20% PMMA microspheres
Are there any side effects to Bellafill?
Potential side effects may include swelling, redness, pain, bruising, lumps/bumps, itching, and discoloration in the first few days to week. Some patients have experienced lumps & bumps in the first few weeks, overall.
Less common side effects include rash & itching more than 48 hours after treatment, persistent swelling or redness, lumps/bumps, acne, and increased sensitivity at treatment sites.
What we find, mostly occurring in our practice, is temporary swelling & bruising. However, these side effects resolve quickly and are soon replaced with obviously smoother skin.
Recovery after BellaFill Treatment
After the procedure, most patients are able to resume their normal daily routine right away; there’s virtually no downtime. Some individuals notice some discomfort for the first few days; we will suggest some skin care products, to provide relief, until the discomfort fades away on its own. Using a mild facial cleanser and recommended moisturizer, twice daily, will also help your skin adjust more easily. Over time, the results of your BellaFill® treatment will become more visible, giving your skin a restored, rejuvenated appearance. This miraculous filler will give you a better, more youthful YOU.
